David and Rachael Keeler – Shelter Island Engagement Session

Meet David and Rachael. Hi David and Rachael! I photographed David’s sister and brother in law’s wedding (Gerald and Barbara) a few years ago and then a family session not too long after. David called me up to ask about wedding packages and we clicked right away again like old friends (partly, because I edited so many photos of his face I felt like we were old friends already.)

When we talked about their engagement session, David recommended we do it at one of their favorite fishing spots on Shelter Island, and I thought it was a great idea! They got there early and were already fishing, so I grabbed my camera and took a few of them doing what they love to start the session. Here are a few of my favorites.

The lines kept getting tangled, and like a good fisherman (and a good husband to be) David would always run down the rocks to untagle/remove the seaweed from the lines. I told him to make sure not to hook me – his reply? It’s ok. I have pliers. Thanks David…

I loved the faces they would make – priceless!

I’m not sure if this was supposed to be earmuffs or 2 person home alone. Either way, I love it.

Thanks guys for being so fun!

If you would like to book your engagement session, check out my Engagement Session Gallery and Engagement pricing. Of course, all of my weddings packages include an engagement session as well.

Red Tie Photography takes on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Earlier this week my dad, Steve Koci, nominated my brother and I (me?) for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Of course, being a photographer I wanted to take a little different spin on it and work with photos rather than a video. With some help from my beautiful fiance Victoria, we were able to catch each fleeting, frozen moment of this challenge for me.

So, have you done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? If so, I’d love to see it! Post a comment below to share your video or photos. If you have any questions too, just let me know and I’d be happy to share:)

Papa Voodoo – Halloween Prop by Halstaff

Each year my dad, Steve Koci aka Halstaff, completely redesigns his house with Halloween props for his annual haunt, Sanctuary of Spooks. He has been busily building a new prop this year, Papa Voodoo, and wanted to get some photos of it before the big day (Halloween).

While we were doing the session, I used my GoPro to create a time lapse of the session. Can you guess how many images were used to create this? Guess in the comments below!

Anyway, on to the photos!

Chris and Kristen Olaf – Maternity Session

You may recognize this handsome fellow – I’m told he looks a lot like me:)Could be because this is my brother and sister-in-law, getting ready for their first baby girl! With only a few weeks before her due date, Chris and Kristen wanted to do some maternity photos on the beautiful Coronado Island in San Diego.

Of course, the fact they love dancing was shown during the session as well!

Events Uncorked – Ashleigh and Emily headshots

Events Uncorked is an event coordination and consulting company based in San Diego County. Emily and I went to high school together (West Hills High School Alumni) and were in the same choir class. It’s funny how we ended up in a similar field, but it’s a small world, right?

They contacted me for headshots so we headed over to Mission Trail Regional Park for a fun, bright session.

Of course, we needed the champagne for the “Uncorked” aspect of it all. Plus, who doesn’t love champagne during a photo session?
